License model in practice
AKC always starts in Free. Activation is only required for Trial or Pro.

Status bar: AKC Free | Trial | Full.
Licenses are device-bound. Pro and Trial: 2 activations per purchase key. Team/Enterprise are separate offers on the product page, not extra in-extension toggles.
Two different keys (do not mix them)

Proof of purchase / trial issuance when activating against shop/CRM, together with provider (payhip, vetter, …). Provider is not a third secret and must not be baked into the field name. |
Activation key (activation_key) |
The token you paste into the extension (R4IT.<payload>.<signature>). That is the output of activation, not the shop input. |
The extension runtime expects the activation key, not the purchase key.
Activation (Trial/Pro)
- Open License in the Activity Bar (do not only grep Settings).
- Copy the device hash or the activation URL shown.
- Complete purchase or trial on ready-4-it.com/akc (purchase key + provider, device).
- Paste the returned activation key into the license view and activate locally.
- Check the status bar:
TrialorFull. Explorer Root Colors and import/export should run for root 3+ without an upsell.
Free stays fully usable without a token — including the first two Explorer roots.
Deactivate and move device
- Deactivate on the old machine in the license view (free the slot).
- Paste the activation key on the new machine.
- Recheck status and the root-color limit (after Trial ends, Free=2 applies again).
If activation fails
- Trim spaces; use the activation key, not the purchase license key.
- VS Code 1.102+, network reachable for activation.
- Both slots used: deactivate one device first.
- After an extension update:
