AKC view or status bar missing

Symptom: no Activity Bar entry or no AKC in the status bar.

Fix:

1. Command Palette → Developer: Reload Window (often required after updates; extension host cache).
2. Extensions view: AI Keep Clean Enabled, Marketplace ID ready-4-it.aikeepclean.
3. VS Code ≥ 1.102 (Help → About). Below that the engine will not load the extension.
4. Click the AKC status-bar item once or twice so the context-driven block (including Close All) appears.

Explorer roots do not tint / only two roots

Symptom: the third (or later) workspace folder stays grey. Or custom hex is ignored.

That is how Free is built (v1.22.41): soft-limit 2 workspaceFolders with builtin palettes. Root 3+ and custom hex need Trial/Pro. Preview does not bypass the cap.

Check:

• root order in the .code-workspace (the first two indexes count),
• license status in the status bar (AKC Free vs Trial/Full),
• after activation, reload the window, then Apply again in Explorer Root Colors.

Workspace colors look wrong or do not stick

Symptom: Preview looks good, Apply changes nothing — or Dark/Light swapped.

Fix:

• Click Apply in Workspace Settings, not only Preview.
• Scope: Workspace vs Global.
• Dark and Light are separate targets. Status bar (sun/moon) must match the Apply target.
• Colour Zen may reject Apply when contrast is too weak — switch preset or raise contrast.

Status-bar terminal does not open or opens wrong

Symptom: click on AKC does nothing, wrong path, or a Windows security dialog.

Fix:

• Expected: Windows = external PowerShell / Windows Terminal in the workspace root, title PS: <workspace> #<n>; otherwise integrated terminal.
• Antivirus/code.exe hooks: exclude code.exe.
• A real workspace must be open (not a single loose file).
• Reload Window after an extension update.

AI connection fails

Symptom: no suggestions, timeouts, connection refused.

Theme Suggest without “Generate with local model” does not need Ollama.

Ollama:

• ollama serve, model pulled (ollama pull llama3), base URL in AI / KI Settings = http://localhost:11434.
• Otherwise Suggest falls back to the offline catalog.

Cloud endpoint: API key, endpoint, model name.

Free limit: 10 suggestions/day used up → check status/upsell; not a provider bug.

AI Compare: Trial/Pro only. Without a token, “does not work” is correct.

License rejected

Symptom: activation declined.

Fix:

• Paste the activation key (R4IT.…), not the purchase license key.
• Trim token whitespace.
• Slot free? Deactivate the other device first.
• Network and VS Code 1.102+.

Unreadable / too loud

Symptom: contrast too weak or rainbow too noisy.

Fix:

• Fall back to a stable builtin preset; respect Colour Zen.
• Reduce indent levels.
• Change only one variable (color or indent) per pass, then Apply.
